Customer success roles are measured on whether customers stay, adopt the product and expand. Resumes that talk about 'building relationships' without numbers look the same as every other applicant's.
1. State your book of business
Give the number of accounts, the recurring revenue you managed and the type of customers (enterprise, mid-market, SMB). It frames everything else on the page.
2. Show retention and expansion
Use the metrics your team tracks: renewal rate, churn, net revenue retention, expansion revenue, customer health scores, CSAT or NPS. Include the period and the change.
3. Describe onboarding and adoption
Time to first value, onboarding completion and feature adoption are common talking points. If you built a playbook or template that others reused, say so.
4. Name your tools
Salesforce, Gainsight, HubSpot, Zendesk and similar systems appear in postings. List the ones you use and what you used them for.
Weak: 'Looked after customer accounts and answered questions.' Stronger: 'Managed a portfolio of enterprise accounts, ran quarterly business reviews and raised the renewal rate over two years.' Add the real portfolio size and percentages.
5. Add a short story
One bullet about saving an at-risk account, with the action you took and the outcome, shows judgement as well as results.
